Tara Rathnayake is an HR Business Partner and immigrant career coach based in
New Zealand, bringing over 13 years of experience working in leading private and public sector organisations both locally and internationally. With a strong foundation in HR and recruitment practices, Tara has built a career centred on people development, organisational growth, and creating workplaces where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Tara holds double degrees in Economics and Human Resources, along with a Master’s in Human Resources. Her academic and professional journey has shaped her expertise across recruitment, leadership development, talent management, and building inclusive, high performing work cultures. Among all areas of HR, recruitment remains her favourite—because it allows her to help people secure meaningful opportunities and take the next step in their careers.
Tara is deeply passionate about empowering others. She actively supports job seekers and students within the Sri Lankan community in New Zealand, guiding them through interview preparation, CV development, and career planning. Through her work, she observed the unique challenges immigrants face when navigating the job market. This insight inspired her to establish Do It Right NZ, a service dedicated to providing specialised immigrant career coaching. Her mission is to help newcomers understand the New Zealand / Australia employment landscape, build confidence, and secure roles that align with their skills and aspirations.
Known for her friendly, reliable, and down‑to‑earth approach, Tara is committed to delivering high‑quality support and creating positive outcomes for every client she works with.
As a mom of two young children, Tara embraces challenges with resilience and optimism. She enjoys working with people, values diversity, and believes that every day brings new opportunities to grow—both personally and professionally.

Tara also shares career guidance, HR insights, and practical job‑search tips through her YouTube channel "Do It Right NZ", https://www.youtube.com/@DoItRightNZ where she creates content to support immigrants and job seekers on their professional journey
